KARACHI: Progress of KCR revival reviewed
KARACHI, Jan. 9: Chief Secretary Sindh, Fazal-ur-Rehman, has emphasized upon accomplishing the plan of revitalization of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR).
He was presiding over a meeting to review the progress of the project.
Project Director KCR, Ijaz Khilji, briefed the progress and apprised that a company under companies ordinance is being established for which nominations of membership/representatives from Sindh Government and City District Government Karachi (CDGK) have been received.
The chief secretary maintained that registration of company for smooth functioning of KCR should be ensured by Feb 15.
It was decided that the survey for identification of encroachments around the KCR track would be completed by the railways land department and CDGK within 10 days.
The matters of bridge financing, settlement of modalities in respect of Federal Government, Sindh Government and CDGK equities sharing formula, rehabilitation of tracks, resettlement cost, infrastructural work, electrification and matters belonging to CDWP and PDWP were also discussed in the meeting.
Secretary Local Govt. M I Lashari, Special Secretary P&D Rehana Memon, DG Karachi Mass Transit Malik Zaheerul Islam and DIG Traffic Khurram Ali were also present.—APP
