KARACHI: LEAs will be reinforced: Ibad

KARACHI, Jan 9: Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad Khan said on Monday that the intelligence network was being reinforced and equipped with latest technology along with various other steps to ensure better law and order in the province.

He stated this during his visit to the headquarters of the Central Investigation Department. Sindh Chief Secretary Fazl-ur-Rehman, Sindh Inspector-General Jehangir Mirza and other senior police officers were also present.

The governor was informed that a separate sub-jail was being established for criminals involved in terrorist activities. Setting up of an Intelligence College for training police officers was also on the cards.

DIG Javed Bukhari briefed the governor on the performance of the CID, particularly the steps being taken to counter sectarian violence, terrorism and other serious crimes.

Dr Ibad said the government had taken serious note of kidnappings and was using all available means to effectively eliminate this heinous crime. He said a number of such cases had been detected and recoveries made.

He said he had already issued directives to put these culprits and their patrons behind bars by utilizing the best capabilities.—APP
