Selection open to all: Bari

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Jan 8: Chief selector Wasim Bari has said that the doors are open for all players to secure a place in Pakistan team, and not only to the 18 probables currently attending the conditioning camp for the home series against India. “All players who have been performing in the domestic cricket could be selected as selection is not confined to the 18 probables,” Bari told reporters on Sunday.

The home series against India starts with the first Test in Lahore from Friday.

He was non-committal when asked if he would go with regular opener or makeshift like Shoaib Malik.

“I cannot comment on it and a final decision in this regard will be taken after a discussion with the team management”, he said.

Imran Farhat, the discarded opener, sent a message to the selectors with a breezy century (107) against India in three-day practice match at Bagh-i-Jinnah on Sunday.

He said that the Pakistan team for the first Test against India will be announced on Monday.
