LAHORE, Jan 8: Fancied chestnut filly, Decent Proposal, outclassed her rival filly, Trace Hit defeating her to win the Wak Gas Cup run over 1600m during the Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday. Ridden honestly with precise judgment by jockey Salah-ud-Din II, Decent Proposal fought neck to neck battle with the leader Trace Hit in the final stretch to edge her out at the winning post by a neck’s margin. Owned by Raja Khushbakhtur Rehman, Decent Proposal was a public choice at 40 to 100 favourite.

The much talked about prodigy, Shatar, with a bag of four consecutive wins, could make no impression on both the fillies and had to be content with the third spot another six lengths back.

Storm Warning completed the frame among seven runners.

The winner is trained by Haji Ghulam Sarwar. Senator Waqar Ahmad, accompanied by Lahore Race Club (LRC) chairman Tariq Aziz and LRC member Mohsin Baig gave away the cup to winning owner.

The dark fluke bay filly, Valentine, put up by far an improved performance annexing the Ghaznavi Cup run over the sprinting distance of 1200m.

She beat Jan Gee by a distance of ten lengths. Key Guy Doll and Poly Love completed the frame.

Three-year-old filly, Trace Kim, owned by Khawaja M. Arif and trained by Sohail Aziz, registered her maiden victory under jockey Aamar Parvaiz in the fourth race.

She beat Blu’s Wendy as she liked. Jockey M. Hanif scored a good double by riding home Jago and Claudius in the second and sixth race of the day.

Only three favourites obliged the punter in the post Eidul Azha meeting.

Inspite of the chilly weather with mercury descending down to zero, a large number of race-fans turned out to enjoy the equine sports.
