HYDERABAD, Jan 6: District hockey associations (DHAs) of Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas elected their office-bearers on Thursday, the former amid boycott by some clubs.
A committee comprising coordinator Sindh Sports Board Syed Ashraf Ali Shah and district sports officer Irshad Ali Makhdoom supervised the two DHAs’ polls and announced results.
Polls for DHA Hyderabad were held amid boycott by Aziz Memorial, Nawab Hameedullah and Rohilla clubs.
The clubs argued in their written protest that a club, Shah Latif was not enrolled, still it had voted in 2002 polls while another club, Ishrat Sani, which had merged into Qamar Club in July 2001, remained enrolled separately.
A Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) scrutiny committee had awarded right of vote to eight out of the 17 clubs which had gone through scrutiny on Dec 24. The clubs are Mehran, Aziz Memorial, Azad, Prof Sami Memorial, Qamar, Ishrat Sani, Nawab Hameedullah and Rohilla.
