Roshan Khan passes away
KARACHI, Jan 6: Roshan Khan, a former British Open squash champion and father of legendary Jahangir Khan, died of cardiac arrest at PNS Shifa, on Thursday night at 10.30 pm. He was 78.
The deceased was in coma since May 12, 2004, and since then never recovered.
He will be laid to rest next to the grave of his son, Torsam Khan, at the Services Graveyard, adjacent to Gora Qabrustan cemetery, on Friday.
His funeral procession would start from the residence of Jahangir Khan 51/2, 19th Street, Khayaban-e-Badban, Phase V, DHA, Friday at 11.00am, family sources said.
He is survived by a widow Bibi Ayesha, two sons Hasan Khan, Jahangir and a daughter Dilshad.
Roshan received a severe setback following death of his three children Torsam, Rustam and a daughter in his lifetime.
During his illustrious career, Roshan who served in Pakistan Navy rose to fame when he won the prestigious British Open way back in 1957.
After calling it a day from International circuit, he dedicated his life for the promotion of game in the country.
He worked day in and day out to see his son Jahangir reach the zenith of the game by pocketing British Open ten times in addition to the numerous World Open and all the other international tournaments time and again.
Due to his sheer contribution for the game, Pakistan Navy named a squash complex after him in the Karachi.
Former Pakistan hockey captain Islahuddin and ex-chief national cricket selector Salahuddin Ahmad condoled the death of Roshan Khan.
