Raise in hill allowance demanded

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Jan 6: All Pakistan Clerks Association (Apca) has demanded of the government to enhance hill allowance of government employees from Rs100 to Rs500 in view of frequent increase in the prices of petroleum products, gas and electricity. Speaking at a press conference here on Friday Sarfaraz Ahmed Bungulzai and Arbab Nasrullah Kasi, president and general secretary respectively of Apca said that clerical staff and low paid employees were confronted with numerous problems.

They also stressed upon the government to implement the resolution adopted by the Balochistan Assembly which recommended that one-month additional salaries should be paid to Muslim employees on Eidul Fitr and Eidul Azha and to Christians on Christmas.

They further demanded that anti-employees law, the Ordinance of 2000, should be withdrawn as it allowed unilateral actions against employees.

They cautioned the government that if their demands were not accepted, Apca would observe pen-down strike for one hour daily from January 14 and would also hold protest rallies.
