KARACHI: City govt plans to remove billboards on fee default
KARACHI, Jan 6: The City District Government Karachi has decided to remove all those billboards whose owners would not be able to deposit their fee till the expiry of the notice period.
Presiding over a high-level meeting on Friday, the City nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, said that work on various uplift projects, costing Rs4 billion, would be completed in the next four to six months.
According to CDGK sources, it also reviewed various uplift projects undertaken by the CDGK.
The meeting was informed that as per available record, the owners of 2,500 hoardings and 2000 pool side have failed to despot their fee despite issuance of challans to them.
Taking cognisance of the situation, the City Nazim directed removal of all such hoardings after the expiry of the date of the notices issued to them.
He also directed the DCO to personally supervise the special drive. It also decided immediate start of work on computerization of revenue record of estate and land departments of KMC, KDA.
All the plots in the city, their area and the purpose of their use should be computerized.
Syed Mustafa Kamal directed that pace of work on various development projects be initiated at the earliest.
The meeting was informed that to streamline water and sewerage in 13 towns of Karachi, an amount of Rs50 million for each town had been allocated.
It was informed that consultants have been appointed for Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) for revamping of water supply and sewerage lines in 13 towns of the city and work would start soon.
It was further apprised that the ECNEC had approved Rs2.1 billion for KWSB projects and works on the same would start soon.
The meeting was informed that Rs4 billion uplift projects with CDGK’s funds were under way in the city and they would be completed within next four to six months. It was also informed that work on sewerage line on 8000 Korangi Road had been started while tenders would be opened on Saturday for laying of sewerage line on 12000 Road.
renovation: The City District Government Karachi has started repair and renovation of its hospitals and health centres.
According to an announcement here Friday, the health centre in Rehri Goth has been converted into a full-fledged hospital of 36 beds on the instructions of City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal.
The CDGK’s works and services department has been asked to complete the repair and renovation of Rehri Goth hospital building and residential blocks on immediate basis.
Similarly, the nazim has asked the department to complete the revival of government hospital in Korangi No 6, and complete repair and development works of a maternity home in Landhi C-36, basic health unit in Shah Faisal Town and urban health centre in Babar Market Landhi.
In addition, the department has been asked to complete the construction work of a veterinary hospital in Bilal Colony.
Meanwhile, the CDGK has invited tenders from consultants for redesigning Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to convert it into a modern hospital. The tenders will be opened on Jan 17.—APP
