KARACHI: Process for removal of encroachers under way


KARACHI, Jan 6: Those affected by the Lyari Expressway project, who did not receive alternative plots have been advised to meet Gulshan Town Nazim Wasay Jalil on Jan 11.

According to a news release of the town on Friday, the process of the removal of encroachments from the areas already surveyed for the project in question has been expedited. These areas included PIB Colony, Madina Colony, and Ziaul Haq Colony.

The residents of these areas whose houses were demolished and for any reason they did not get alternate plots, such people have been advised to meet the town nazim along with necessary documents including water, electricity, telephone and gas bills between 12 noon and 2pm on Wednesday at the committee room of the Gulshan Town.

It may be noted that a committee had been constituted on the directives of City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal under the chairmanship of the town nazim to provide relief to those affected by the LEW project.

The town nazim will remain available at his office on every Wednesday between 12 noon and 2pm for all such people. In the light of these meetings further action would be initiated.

The presence of concerned UC nazims would also be ensured.

SITE TOWN: Cleanliness drive in Site Town has gained momentum as the town administration has lifted 1,800 tons of garbage and debris from various localities of the town during the last four days prior to the Eidul Azha.

Heavy machinery lifted garbage and debris in UC-4, UC-6 and other localities including Model Park, Tayyaba Masjid and surroundings of Agha Khan Flats and Mustafa Masjid ground.

Similarly, cleanliness activities are also under way at various grounds to be used for Eid prayers and surroundings of mosques.

Site Town Nazim Izharuddin Ahmed Khan directed the sanitary officials and staff to keep nullahs, drains, sewerage lines, roads, streets, parks and grounds clean so that there would be no inconvenience to the residents of the town.—APP
