LAHORE, Jan 5: Pakistan captain Inzamamul Haq believes that his present team is more experienced and united than the one which faced India in the home series in 2003-04.

He was talking to reporters at the National Cricket Academy on the opening day of the conditioning camp, set up to prepare and finalise the Pakistan team for the home series against India starting with the first Test in Lahore from Jan 13.

“Though both India and Pakistan have equal chances to win the series but the plus point of the home team is, it is more experienced and more united and that is most important for me,” Inzamam said.

Inzamam, the veteran of 105 Tests, said that he wanted from his players the same fighting spirit which they had exhibited against England in the last home series. Inzamam stressed that there was no home advantage to the hosts.

“With the same home conditions, Indians had defeated us in Pakistan (2003-04) while we had defeated them in India (2004-05). I do not expect any kind of home advantages of pitches or any one else,” he said.

He hoped that the pitches would be the same kind which had been prepared against England.

Only nine players, out of total 18, called for the camp reported on the first day. Abdul Razzaq, who had suffered typhoid recently also reported. His chances to play the Test series, starting from Jan 13, are bleak due to fitness problems.
