Govt divided nation on KBD issue: PPP: Bhutto’s birth anniversary observed

KHAIRPUR, Jan 5: Zulfikar Ali Bhutto played a remarkable role in stability of the country by making it an atomic power and giving a consensus constitution. This was stated by PPP Sindh president Qaim Ali Shah on occasion of the 78th birth anniversary of Z.A. Bhutto here on Thursday.

He said Gen Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz had divided the nation by raising the Kalabagh dam issue.

“We take oath on the 78th birth anniversary of the PPP founder that the party will continue its struggle against the controversial dam”, he said.

He said that year starting with 78th birth anniversary of Z.A. Bhutto would prove a year of restoration of democracy in the country.

He said the president, prime minister and chief ministers were not ready to talk about the law and order situation in the country and they were avoiding this core issue.

He alleged that women and children were being killed in the Balochistan operation.

He said bureaucrats and ministers were deeply involved in corruption and commission culture.

People’s Lawyers Forum Sukkur region president Liaquat Ali Shar arranged a cake cutting ceremony on Thursday.

A similar ceremony was also held at the Wassan House where MPA Nawab Wassan and other workers cut cake.

Shahbaz Dino Bhatti, Irshad Rajpar, Aziz Gaho, Qayyum Shaikh, Ghulam Mustafa Bugti and Rasheed Katohar also spoke on the occasion.

HYDERABAD: Tribute was paid to the founder of the Pakistan People’s Party, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, for his services in the cause of Pakistan and the Ummah on his 78th birth anniversary celebrated in almost all districts of the interior of Sindh on Thursday.

The main function was held at the people’s secretariat, Hyderabad district council building, under the chairmanship of district party president MPA Zahid Ali Bhurgari.

Workers of subordinate wings of the party attended the function in a large number. Prominent among those who attended the function included MNA Ameer Ali Shah Jamote, MPA Pir Amjad Shah Jilani, Amanullah Siyal, Illahi Bux Qaimkhani, Mir Fateh Talpur, Syed Fayaz Shah, Aftab Khanzada, Ahsan Abro and Hina Dastagir.

Party leaders cut a 78-pound cake.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bhurgari said Mr Bhutto was one of the greatest leaders of the Muslim world who had united the Ummah on one platform. He said Mr Bhutto had given a consensus constitution to the country and initiated the nuclear programme in the country.

MNA Jamote alleged that the rulers were trying to break the country whereas the PPP was trying to extricate it from crises.

MPA Jilani said the government had raised the Kalabagh dam issue when people were dying in Northern Areas and Azad Kashmir due to freezing cold.

The District Bar Association and the District People’s Lawyers Forum also held a function to celebrate the birth anniversary of Mr Bhutto at the district bar.

Allah Bachayo Soomro, Chaudhry Bashir Ahmad, Abdul Khaliq Leghari, Noorul Haq Qureshi and others recalled services of Mr Bhutto in the cause of Pakistan and the Ummah.

SHIKARPUR: The birthday of Mr Bhutto was celebrated by activists of the party and its affiliated organizations at the residence of Agha Tariq Khan Pathan.

Qazi Hafeezur Rehman, member of the PPP federal council, was the chief guest and district party president Agha Taimoor Khan presided over the function.

Speaking at the gathering, the party leaders lauded the role of Mr Bhutto and pledged to continue the struggle for completing his mission.

NAWABSHAH: The PPP and the PPP-SB celebrated the birth anniversary of Mr Bhutto.

PPP MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio cut a cake at the party office in Gharibabad. Sindh PPP-SB president Mian Khan Rind cut a cake at the party’s district office.

MIRPURKHAS: The 78th birth anniversary of Z. A. Bhutto was observed on Thursday at the Mirpurkhas taluka.

Speaking on the occasion, district president of the PPP, Haji Noor Hassan Chandio, Hayat Shah Lakiari and Malik Yasin Ghori lauded services of Bhutto and said that he had worked for progress and prosperity of the country.

They said Bhutto had created awareness among people for their rights.

Others who also spoke on the occasion were Ishaque Narejo, Ali Akbar Panhwar, Comrade Mehboob, Zakir Hussain and Riaz Qureshi.
