HYDERABAD: Demonstration against arrest of union leaders

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Jan 5: Under the banner of the CBA union, employees of the highways works and services department held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Thursday against the arrest of their colleagues in Larkana.

Speaking on the occasion, CBA union leaders Ali Mohammad Laghari, Ghulam Mustafa Sheno, Mohammad Ayoub and others said their colleagues Manzoor Ahmad Aahir, Piral Dayo and Imdad Buledi had been arrested in Larkana without any reason by DCO Khuda Bux Larik.

They warned that if the arrested leaders were not released in two days, protest demonstrations would be held throughout Sindh.

The All Pakistan Clerks Association, Hyderabad chapter, also held a protest demonstration against the Larkana DCO.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Apca secretary Ashraf Bozai alleged that the Larkana administration had registered false cases against leaders of the Sindh Employees Alliance.

He said victimization of grade-1 to grade-16 employees by the DCO had created unrest among the low-grade employees.

He said protest demonstrations against the DCO were being held throughout Sindh but the government was taking no notice of the protests.

He demanded that authorities should take immediate action against the DCO and withdraw the cases against the alliance leaders.

VILLAGERS: Residents of Hote Jakhro, Matiari district, held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Thursday against the arrest of Mohammad Paryal allegedly by the DSP and the SHO of Matiari.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Chhuttal Jakhro said Mohammad Paryal had been kept in a private jail of a local feudal lord.
