KARACHI: Manghopir Road uplift work lying incomplete

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 4: Work on the rehabilitation and improvement of Manghopir Road could not be completed within the stipulated time, i.e. by November 15 last year.

The project, which was estimated to cost Rs287,380, had been started on Feb 16, 2004. The first phase of the project had been launched by former city nazim Niamatullah Khan on Jan 3, 2004 under the Tameer-i-Karachi Programme and according to the schedule, its first phase was to be completed within 14 months.

The road was to be constructed from Pirabad to Sarhad Petrol Pump point.

In a communication to the new City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, President of the Sindh Shehri Federation Tahir Swati held the city government’s works and services department responsible for the delay and urged him to conduct an inquiry into the matter.

Mr Swati reminded him that the poor condition of the road was causing inconvenience to local residents as well as motorists.
