PESHAWAR, Jan 2: Federal Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has praised the Frontier Corps for securing the country’s western border and executing its tasks in the war against terrorism, according to an official statement issued on Monday.

Mr Sherpao paid special tribute to the FC personnel who had laid down their lives in the struggle to secure the country’s western border. “The country will not forget the professional role played by the FC personnel in the war against terrorism,” he was quoted as saying.

The interior minister expressed this view during his discussion with the Frontier Corps’ Inspector General Maj-Gen Mohammad Tariq Masood at his office at Balahisar Fort here on Monday.

Mr Sherpao also praised the educational facilities being provided to the students of the Scouts Training Academy in Mir Ali, North Waziristan.

During his visit to the fort, the FC briefed the interior minister about development work in the tribal areas and activities of the Scouts Cadet College in Warsak.

Mr Sherpao was also informed about the damage caused by the Oct 8 earthquake to the historical Balahisar Fort.
