PU syndicate approves TTS

LAHORE, Jan 2: The Punjab University syndicate has approved the Tenure Track Statues in principle in its 1665th meeting. According to a release issued here on Monday, the syndicate appreciated the modified draft of the TTS package chalked out by the deans committee. It said the teaching community had been consulted before finalizing the draft.

It said the syndicate also discussed “one man one post” formula for the varsity academic and administrative offices. The vice-chancellor said the decision in this regard would be taken keeping in view the post’s requirement.

The syndicate also approved Rs 115 million for the purchase of a piece of land for its Gujranwala Campus. It also decided to hand over a piece of land to LDA and Tepa for improvement and expansion of Bhekhewal Morr for smooth flow of traffic. It decided that the FC and Kinnaird colleges students registered with the PU would be allowed to complete their examinations.

The syndicate approved the conversion of the mass communication department into Institute of Communication Studies.

DEMO: Punjab University students held a demonstration outside the Lahore Press Club on Monday against the US for its plan to attack Iran.

Holding banners and placards, the students chanted slogans against the US and Israel for their anti-Muslim policies.

They said the US instead of withdrawing its forces from Iraq was planning to attack Iran. They said the attack on Iran would face a strong resistance across the world. They later dispersed peacefully.

Meanwhile, the Islami Jamiat Tulba also condemned the US for its plan to attack Iran.
