EC announces schedule for Jacobabad bye-election


ISLAMABAD, Jan 2: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Monday fixed February 25 for holding bye-election in the National Assembly constituency NA-210 Jacobabad-III.

Earlier by elections were held on this seat on December 10 but their results were declared null and void under Section 103AA of the Representation of People Act 1976 after the commission got hold of concrete evidence of mass scale rigging.

According to an EC statement, on January 16 Returning Officer will invite nomination papers which will be received on January 18-19.

On January 20-21 scrutiny

of nomination papers will be done and names of validly nominated candidates will be published.

Appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers will be received till January 23 and disposed of on January 24.

January 26 will be the day for withdrawal of candidature while revised list of contesting candidates will be published on January 27. Polling will be held on February 25.

The Constituency NA 210 Jacobabad-III had fallen vacant in October when the incumbent MNA Saleem Jan Mazari resigned following his election as District Nazim Kashmore.—APP
