KARACHI: LEW cheques distribution to continue during Eid

KARACHI, Jan 2: The city government will continue distributing cheques to the people affected by Lyari Expressway project even during Eidul Azha holidays.

This was decided at a high-level meeting chaired by City Nazim Mustafa Kamal, says a city government’s statement on Monday. The meeting was attended by DCO Fazalur Rehman, CCPO Niaz Siddiqui, DIG Operations Mushtaq Shah, Lyari Project Director Shafiqur Rehman Paracha.

The meeting further decided that more heavy machinery and additional police force would be deployed for removal of encroachment from Lyari Expressway.

Mustafa Kamal said that Lyari Expressway was the first mega project of its kind in the country. He said that due to certain reasons there was a delay in the project and its cost had increased by two billion rupees. He said that this was a very important project for Karachi as 30 per cent of the traffic problems would be solved after its completion.—APP
