KARACHI, Jan 2: Seven vessels carrying general cargo and containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday, according to KPT sources.

Cargo handling activity at the port surpassed its previous record of single-day total and rose to 0.223m tons comprising 87,161 tons of export cargo, including 3,346 and 2,324 tons of rice and cement, respectively, and 0.140 tons of import tonnage, notably dry cargo.

Berthing activity at the wharves was brisk where six ships, Ken Unity, Stella Terza, Sammi Super Star, with general cargo, Capetan Michalis and Beta Tanki, with oil tankers, and Kota Jasa, with containers, were berthed.

Sailing was maintained on the higher side as 10 ships sailed out after loading and unloading cargoes. They are: MOL Asante, Conti Harmony, PONL Buenos Aires, George Lyras, Sanhope, United Prosperity, Sinar Bontang, Thor Captain, Shalamar and Ibn al-Moataz, while Kota Jasa, Khairpur, Emerald, Iran Sattari, Tai He, Yang Jiang He, Dubai Frotune, Chry Soulas and Beta Tank-2 are due to sail out on Tuesday.
