No PTCL telegram, telex service from 7th

ISLAMABAD, Jan 1: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company (PTCL) has decided to close down its telegram/telex service from January 7. A PTCL spokesman said the decision had been taken in the backdrop of drastic technological advancements in the telecom sector. He said the PTCL was striving to deliver latest telecom services to its valued customers in place of the older ones.

The spokesman said the customers now had better alternative services available in the market for their data requirements like e-mail, internet, SMS, DSL, data networks, Virtual Private Network (VPN) over domestic and international bandwidth, and facsimile.

It’s worth mentioning that the PTCL was facing problems in getting the equipment and technical support from the telex equipment manufacturers as they had also shifted their focus to newer technologies/services.
