SUKKUR, Dec 31: All canals of the Sukkur Barrage will remain closed from Jan 6 to 27 for necessary repairs and inspection of the barrage. This was announced by the chief engineer, irrigation, Sukkur Barrage, on Saturday.

INJURED: A woman was injured when she offered resistance to armed robbers in Agha Badaruddin Colony, New Pind, here on Friday night.

Three robbers barged into the house of Rajab Abro and looted households after holding his minor son, Abdul Wahid, hostage at gunpoint.

When Mr Abro’s wife, Najma, offered resistance, she was shot at and injured by the robbers.

Later, area people caught hold of one of the robbers, Mohammad Ali Machi, and handed him over to police.

The injured woman was taken to the Sukkur Civil Hospital.
