Villagers protest against police

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Dec 31: Area people and relatives of the deceased Jamaluddin Gopang took out a procession on the National Highway near the Jam Noorullah village on Saturday against the Mohabbat Dero police.

Jamaluddin, 25, resident of the Bhour village, had been killed and his father, Tharo Gopang, injured allegedly by Mir Mohammad and Jamal Khushik over a dispute on purchase of a goat near Bhour on Thursday.

The protesters, including the injured Tharo Gopang who had been brought on a cot, also staged a sit-in on the highway for two hours and burnt tyres.

They alleged that police were not arresting the accused.

The DSP, headquarters, Aleem Abbasi, in-charge TPO, Kandiaro, Aijaz Cheema, DSP, Kamal Dero, Sardar Ahmad Khan Jatoi, and the Kandiaro police reached the spot.

The protesters refused to end the blockage.

Later, Kandiaro Taluka Nazim Syed Sarfaraz Ali Shah reached there and held talks with the protesters.

On his assurance that the accused will be arrested soon and the Mohabbat Dero SHO will be suspended, the protesters dispersed. Mehrabpur Taluka Nazim Syed Abrar Shah was also present.
