Snow forecast

Published January 1, 2006

ISLAMABAD, Dec 31: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast heavy snowfall in the earthquake affected areas during the next two days.

A spokesman for the Met office said a strong weather system had started to develop over Pakistan which was likely to produce widespread snow over the mountains above 5,000 feet.

The intensity of snow may be high at times in most parts of Galliat, Hazara and Kashmir.

The intermittent rain/snow with the risk of landslide is likely to disrupt the rescue operations in the quake-hit areas.
