RAWALPINDI, Dec 31: A Christian boy shot dead his girl friend and then committed suicide by shooting himself with the same pistol in Chowki Tariqabad area on Saturday, police said. He took such an extreme step after he was scolded by his father for developing relation with the girl.

Police said Saira Idris a college student and daughter of Babu Idris a PPP leader resident of Lalkurti and a Christian boy Sheraz Joseph were found shot dead in front of the girl’s house.

The ASP, Civil Lines, Azhar Ikram said: “First the boy shot dead Saira and then committed suicide by shooting himself with the same weapon which was lying near his dead body when the police reached the scene.”

Quoting the statement of Babu Idris, the father of the girl, the ASP said that there had been relations between his daughter and the boy. On Saturday morning, the watchman informed him that he had heard sound of firing and saw his daughter’s dead body was lying in the street.

Father of the boy in his statement to the police said that it was in his knowledge that his son had fallen in love with Siara and he had scolded him for this. But his son had threatened him that he would commit suicide, if stopped again.

FOUND DEAD: A condemned prisoner was found dead in the death-cell of Adiala jail on Saturday, police said.

Muhammad Rafaqat, involved in a murder case of Attock was in the death cell when complained about pain. According to jail sources, Rafaqat was suffering from tuberculosis which caused his death.

ROBBERIES: Two robbers entered the house of Atif Jameel and took away Rs3700 in cash and gold ornaments after taking the inmates at gunpoint.

In another incident, four persons snatched cab No RLA 4013 of Sabaz Ali at gunpoint.
