Polo: Hissam snatches match-winner

LAHORE, Dec 30: A sudden death goal by Hissam Ali Hyder steered Led War into the final of the Seasons Canola Polo Cup beating Garden Gas 6-5 on Friday.

The score was 2-2 in the first chukker.

Hashim Kamal Agha scored two goals for Led War while Ahmed Ali Tiwana, who scored four goals for the losers struck first followed by a goal by Kamran Nooruddin.

The winners went ahead 4-3 in the second chukker.

Hissam and Hashim scored a goal each while for the losers Ahmed scored his second goal.

Ahmed made it 4-4 in the third chukker scoring his third goal.

Both teams netted a goal each in the fourth chukker to make it 5-5 to take the game into the extra fifth chukker.

Hissam struck his first goal for Led War while Ahmed added his fourth for Garden.

Despite a four-goal burst in the fourth chukker Diet Coke were beaten 7-6 by Learning Alliance.

The winners qualified for the subsidiary final.

For the winners, Junaid Ahmed (3), Bilal Haye (2) and Ahsan Javed Sher (2) were on target.

For the losers, Azhar Ali, Shahzad Aziz and Yaqub Sial scored two goals apiece.
