Afaq defies ZTBL

LAHORE, Dec 30: Fine century by opener Afaq Rahim helped Service Industries stage recovery against ZTBL on the penultimate day of the Patron’s Trophy Grade I match at Sheikhupura Stadium on Friday.

A last-wicket stand worth 44 between Siddiq Khan (39 not out) and Naeem Anjum gave ZTBL a useful 25-run lead on the first innings as they were all out for 216 after resuming at 191-9 in reply to Service’s modest total of 191.

Though Afaq did not get support from the other end his gallant 102, with 12 fours off 184 balls, improved Service’s position, finishing the day at 184-6 — 159 runs ahead with four wickets in hand.

Siddiq also excelled with the leather taking four wickets of Service for 51 runs.
