Worker killed in cylinder blast

GUJRANWALA, Dec 30: A factory worker was killed when a gas cylinder exploded in the Small Industries Estate No 2 here on Friday. Waris Masih was busy in work when the cylinder exploded as a result of which his head was blown off. He died on the spot.

RESENTMENT: Traders expressed resentment against excise and taxation department on issuing them notices for payment of professional tax without any justification and demanded that notices sent to them should be withdrawn immediately.

At a meeting held here on Friday, the participants said some excise officials came to them and received Rs200 in cash to file the notice.

They said harassment was being spread in business community by corrupt officials.

DEMO: Tanzeem-i-Islam activists held a demonstration against obscenity on the GT Road on Friday and demanded the government to implement Islamic laws instead of promoting un-Islamic culture through electronic media.
