LARKANA, Dec 30: Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry has said that no one has approached the apex court so far regarding proposed construction of the Kalabagh dam.
He was talking to newsmen here on Friday.
Justice Chaudhry said the court had not been contacted over the tussle on the Kalabagh dam.
The chief justice also attended a function organized by the Larkana High Court Bar Association and the Larkana District Bar Association on Friday to celebrate 11 years of completion of the Larkana circuit court of the Sindh High Court.
He said that cases pertaining to Sindh would now be shifted to the Sindh Registry of the Supreme Court at Karachi so that people did not have to travel to Islamabad.
Justice Chaudhry also inaugurated the Larkana circuit judicial conference at the Larkana Circuit House on Friday.
He said the new police order was creating difficulty as it had separate departments for watch and ward and investigation.
On the occasion, acting governor of Sindh Justice Sabhiuddin Ahmed welcomed the chief justice and apprised him about aims and objectives of the conference.
Earlier, Justice Chaudhry along with the acting Sindh governor and judges of the Supreme Court and the Sindh High Court laid a foundation stone of a utility complex and a judicial enclave in the premises of the circuit court.
The chief justice was informed that 12 bungalows at a cost of Rs34.68 million would be constructed for the judicial officers in Larkana.
