Action against ‘terrorists’ in Kohlu continues: minister

By Our Staff Reporter

QUETTA, Dec 28: Balochistan Home Minister Mir Mohammad Shoaib Nausherwani has said many outlaws’ camps have been eliminated during paramilitary forces’ operation in different regions of Kohlu district and action was in progress against the terrorist network.

He stated this while talking to newsmen here on Wednesday.

He said that the government was determined to destroy the terrorist network for continuing smooth development process to bring this backward province with other developed regions of the country.

“Paramilitary forces have eliminated outlaws’ camps up to some extent,” he said, and added that the government had decided to restore the writ of law and it would take all possible steps in this regard.

Mr Nausherwani said that anti-development elements could not stop the government from fulfilling its responsibilities for the development of the province.

He said that the government had launched various mega projects and other schemes for the uplift of this backward province but some elements were opposing the governments’ move in this regard.

He said that these elements through terrorist activities were damaging power and gas installations and were involved in firing rockets and exploding bombs in different regions of Balochistan.

Mr Nausherwani said that they also fired rockets during the president’s visit to Kohlu. They also targeted the helicopter of Inspector General Frontier Corps, resulting in an IG and DIG being injured, who were headed towards Quetta from Kohlu.

He said that in view of these incidents and the deteriorating law and order situation in this region the government had decided to control terrorist activities and eliminate the network of terrorists. Forces have succeeded in destroying many camps being used for subversive activities during the operation in suspected regions of the troubled district of Kohlu.

He said paramilitary forces were taking action in those areas that were being used for subversive activities and it would conclude soon with the complete elimination of such camps.

He denied that paramilitary forces were making the civil population a target during the operation against outlaws’ camps. “It is wrong and just negative propaganda,” he said, and added that paramilitary forces had not made the civilian population a target.
