KARACHI, Dec 27: The men’s and women’s team event finals of the 43rd National table tennis championship will be Wapda-Habib Bank affairs after their star-studded outfits won their semifinals at the Islamia Club’s Majeed Khan hall, on Tuesday.
Last year’s runners up and top seed, Wapda packed with internationals whipped Sindh ‘A’ 3-1 while second seed, Habib Bank outplayed PWD 3-0 in the two men team semifinals.
Similarly, top seed and holders Habib Bank, handed a 3-1 defeat to Sindh ‘A’ while second seed Wapda defeated Punjab ‘A’ by identical scoreline in the women’s team event.
The two team events finals will be played on Wednesday at 5.00pm.
The individual matches of the competition will also commence on Wednesday morning at 10.00am. The draws of the individual event were taken out Tuesday night.
While international Asim Qureshi would defend his men’s singles crown the women’s event will produce new champion as defending champion, Ghazala Roohi and losing finalist, Rahila Kashif, both of ABL, were not competing.
