ISLAMABAD, Dec 27: A three-member bench of the Supreme Court on Tuesday granted more time to Syed Abbas Raza Rizvi, a former district Naib Nazim, Okara, to undergo a DNA test over allegation that he fathered an illegitimate child. The test was ordered by a two-member SC bench on December 1 when it had taken up an application filed by Shahnaz Fatima, who alleged that Rizvi was father of a child her younger sister, Mehnaz Fatmia, had given birth without wedlock.
The three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar and Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan adjourned the hearing to January 27 on a written request by the counsels of the respondent, Malik Muhammad Qayyum and Dr Khalid Ranjha, who were not present in the court.
Assistant Advocate General Punjab, Ms Afshan Ghazanfar apprised the court that Armed Forces Institute of Pathology of would conduct DNA test. The sisters also appeared before the court.—APP
