SARGODHA, Dec 26: An anti-corruption establishment team, led by Additional Director Muhammad Aftab, on Monday arrested Mianwali EDO (revenue) Ejaz Husain Baloch on charges of fake allotment of 105 acres of state land.
Mr Aftab told this correspondent that the EDO caused huge loss to national exchequer by fake allotments to 20 people in Sillanwali during his posting as Sargodha district officer (revenue). He said 14 similar cases had also been registered against Mr Baloch. He said the EDO had been arrested after getting permission from the provincial government.
The ACE claimed to have retrieved the land.
NOMINATIONS: Five members of the district council on Monday filed their nomination papers for the slot of district naib nazim.
They are Mian Sultan Ali Ranjha, son of Punjab Colonies Minister Mian Manazir Ali Ranjha, Malik Asad Akram Katchela of PML, Malik Hamid Nawaz (PPP), Arshad Ahmed and Akmal Shameel Gujar.
The position of Mian Sultan Ali Ranjha reportedly seems to be strong by virtue of show of hands method as official candidate Dr Liaquat Khan had lost to PPP’s nominee in PP-32 bypolls.
In Sargodha tehsil, Muhammad Ali, Abdul Qadeer and Mian Muhammad Sajid are in the run, besides PML hopeful Ahmad Sher Luk.
Zafar Ibrahim, Muhammad Aslam, Shahid Husain Sherazi and Tahir Mahmood have filed their nomination papers for Shahpur tehsil naib nazim seat, Sardar Zaighum Husain Khan, Ahmad Khan and Raza Ahmad Khan for Sahiwal, and Khuda Dad Bhatti, Hamid Raza Bhatti and Malik Hafeez Shakir are contesting for Sillanwali tehsil naib nazim slot.
