Accused’s buffalo roughs up SI

GUJRANWALA, Dec 26: A charging buffalo roughed up a sub-inspector who along with a raiding party ventured to enter the house of the accused on College Road here on Monday.

Reports said that the raiding party, led by SI Riaz Ahmad, had gone to arrest an accused involved in killing of local Shia leader Syed Hasan Raza Abidi. The buffalo of the accused, after seeing some unknown people entering the house, charged and injured the SI severely. However, other policemen beat a hasty retreat to avoid the charged animal. The injured SI was rushed to the local DHQ Hospital.

Model Town and Dhulley SHOs Imran Abbas and Muhammad Nawaz Syal had to reach along with a heavy police contingent to take control of the situation. However, the accused wanted to police could not be arrested.

SHOT DEAD: A printing press owner was shot dead by unidentified masked motorcyclists here on Monday.

Reports said that Munawar Ali was on way home from his printing press on Nomania Road by his motorcycle. Near his house, armed motorcyclists intercepted him and opened fire on him. He died on the spot. Police removed his body to the local DHQ Hospital for autopsy. As of now the motive behind the murder could not be ascertained.

MEDICAL CAMP: Provincial parliamentary secretary Mudassar Qayyum Nahara inaugurated a free medical camp organized by an NGO in Jehlan village in Naushera Virkan on Monday.
