KARACHI: Govt to set up firms for treatment plants


KARACHI, Dec 26: The Sindh government has decided to form public limited companies comprising concerned stakeholders of the industrial areas of Korangi, Landhi, Federal B Area and North Karachi for the installation of combined effluent treatment plants (CETPs), as well as, accelerating work on infrastructure uplift activities.

In this regard, a high-level meeting was held here on Monday with Sindh Chief Secretary Fazalur Rehman in the chair. The meeting reviewed the reports of the secretary industries and DCO Karachi for improving infrastructure facilities in the industrial areas and installation of combined effluent treatment plants in the industrial areas.

It was decided that the provincial secretary industries would take necessary steps in this regard.

The city government and relevant town administrations would also be given representation in these bodies. It was decided that the associations related with the industry would also be contacted in this regard.

Sindh Finance Secretary Malik Asrar Hussain, Secretary Land Utilization Khalid Mehmood Soomro, Secretaries Mohammad Ishaque Lashari and Nasir Hayat, Secretary-General Administration and Coordination Abdul Qadir Mangi and DCO Fazalur Rehman were also present.—PPI
