KARACHI, Dec 26: The Sindh High Court adjourned on Monday the hearing of a criminal revision petition moved by former federal minister and PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari against a warrant for his arrest issued by sessions court for his arrest in the the Murtaza Bhutto murder case.
The non-bailable warrant was issued by the district and sessions court (Karachi East) after dismissal of the ex-minister’s plea from continued exemption from personal appearance as an accused in the murder case.
The petition, in which a notice to the state was issued on Saturday by Justice Zia Pervez, came up before Justice Shamsuddin Hisbani on Monday.
The judge observed that he could not proceed with the matter and it may be fixed by the office before another judge in the interest of justice. The next hearing of the case was Dec 28.
Mr Zardari is among the several accused charged with killing Mir Murtaza Bhutto, brother of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and Chairman of the Pakistan People Party (SB), with seven others, including his close aide Ashiq Jatoi, on Sept 20, 1996 near his residence in Clifton.
