KARACHI, Dec 26: The Peoples Lawyers Forum (PLF), Sindh has demanded of the government to immediately restore the Khokhrapar-Monabao rail link between Pakistan and India and allow free movement of lawyers, journalists, poets, writers, intellectuals and artists across the border to strengthen the ongoing peace process between the two countries.
These demands were made by PLF coordinator Anwaar Ahmed Khan Yousuf Zai Advocate, who led a convoy of the PLF Sindh activists to the Khokhrapar railway station to meet activists of the Indian Peoples Lawyers Forum (PLF) at the Khokhra-Monabao crossing point.
Mr Yousuf Zai told PPI here on Monday that a 16-member PLF Sindh delegation travelled from Karachi to Khokhrapar railway station on Friday last, where they had to meet Indian PLF delegation to press the Pakistan and Indian governments to expedite restoration of the Khokhrapar-Monabao rail link.
According to him, despite hurdles created by police, district nazim Umerkot and Ghazi Rangers, the PLF Sindh delegation managed to reach some 500 yards near the Pakistan-India border where the Indian PLF activists were awaiting their Pakistani counterparts across the border.
He, however, alleged that the Rangers did not allow them to present sweets to the Indian PLF activists.—PPI
