PESHAWAR, Dec 24: Pakistan’s top amateur Tariq Mehmood stretched his first day one-strokes lead to three strokes on the second day of the 41st Frontier Amateur Ranking golf Open Championship played at PAF Golf Course over 54-holes on Saturday.
Tariq extended his lead by finishing another excellent round of 70, two under to his overnight 70 to make a aggregated total of 140, four under par over 36 holes.
Tariq played 35 each at front and back nine with only four birdies at 6, 12, 13 and 18 but he made a single bogy at 11 and 16 where he missed short birdie put.
Tariq was closely followed by local boy Ahmed Jamshed with his gross score 143, one under, (71+72). He carded 37 at front nine and 35 at back nine.
Muhammad Safdar remained in third spot with his score 144 (71+73), he carded 38 at front nine and 35 at back nine with three birdies at 1, 13 and 17 while he missed stroke at 3, 5, 7 and 17.
He was followed by Shumail Aziz, with his gross score 149, five over par, 36 each at front and back nine. Shumail carded 77 on the opening day but he played excellent round on the second day by scoring 72, par.—APP
