SRINAGAR, Dec 23: A powerful explosion on Friday ripped apart a taxicab at a checkpoint of a heavily-guarded Indian Air Force airfield outside Srinagar that is commonly used by political leaders, police said.
The blast, which caused no casualties, came on the day Indian troops shot dead two militants in a clash near the LoC.
Police believed the explosives were hidden in two boxes of apples that the taxi driver had been asked to deliver to an official at the airfield. The taxi had crossed two checkpoints when the explosion occurred.—AFP
