KARACHI, Dec 23: Joint defending champions PIA staged recovery in their Patron’s Trophy grade-I match against Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) at National Stadium on Friday.
PIA after being bundled out for 123 in their first innings, were battling at 143 for one wickets in their second outing, thanks to fighting half centuries from Kamran Sajid and Yasir Hameed.
The pair had added exactly 100-run for the unbroken second wicket. Yasir hit eight fours in his 61 while left handed Kamran struck eight boundaries.
Airlines are now 23-run ahead with their nine wickets in hand with two days play left in the four-day match.
KRL took a 120-run first innings lead by mustering 243 in their first innings after resuming at their overnight score of 144 for the loss of four wickets.
Medium fast bowler Fazle Akber caused the main damage in KRL innings with five wickets for 63 runs in 18 overs.
He was well supported by Jannisar Khan snapped-up three for 52 in 12 overs and Kamran Sajid got two for 17.
Abdul Rauf, who caused the trouble in PIA first innings smashed an unbeaten 41 off 49 with seven hits to the ropes.
