KARACHI, Dec 23: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has blamed the federal Information Ministry for the recent incident of burning copies of some Sindhi newspapers and a newspaper office in Sukkur and resignation of about 40 journalists in the wake of a government advertisement campaign in support of the Kalabagh Dam.
The PFUJ said in a statement issued here on Friday that it had decided to call a meeting of editors and journalists of Sindhi newspapers in Karachi on Dec 28 to review the situation and work out a plan to resist government pressures on newspapers to publish pro-Kalabagh advertisements and also to condemn the burning of newspapers.—PPI
