Imran restricts bankers

KARACHI, Dec 22: Slow left-armer Imran Khalid captured five wickets for Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Ltd (SNGPL) to restrict Habib Bank to 260 for eight in the Patron’s Trophy Grade-I match at UBL Sports Complex on Thursday.

Imran finished with excellent figures of five for 72 in an unchanged spell of 30 overs from the Pavilion End. Medium-pacer Mahmood Malik claimed two for 54 in 12 overs.

After two high-scoring draws, the pitch for the current match offered something for the bowlers following rain on Tuesday night.

Younis Khan made a stylish 44 just a day after leading Pakistan in the final One-day International against England in Rawalpindi.

The Pakistan vice-captain was one of the four wickets that fell after tea for 15 runs in 47 deliveries as SNGPL fought back.

Farhan Adil emerged as the day’s highest scorer with 49, a knock that included three boundaries.

Aftab Khan was in punishing mood, striking six fours in his 36 off just 51 balls.

Ex-Test opener Imran Farhat slammed four boundaries in making 40 off 72 balls.

The bankers might have been in dire straits when the eighth wicket went down at 214.

But Kamran Hussain (23) and Junaid Zia (16) thwarted the bowlers with a resolute stand of 36 by stumps.
