PCB may file review appeal for Shabbir
LAHORE, Dec 22: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to file review appeal before International Cricket Council (ICC) against the decision of banning paceman Shabbir Ahmed for one-year for illegal bowling action.
A decision to this effect will be taken on Friday after the bowler meets PCB chairman Shaharyar M Khan again.
Shabbir, who met the chairman and director cricket operations Saleem Altaf on Thursday was handed over the written decision of the ICC with the advice to make up his mind for final course of action till tomorrow (Friday).
Shabbir, who was looking dejected, as he has become the first international bowler to face a one-year suspension which could lead to end his career spanning over 10 Test and 32 One-day International, was reluctant to talk with the press.
“I will be in a position to say something about my future tomorrow after meeting the chairman,” he said.
Shabbir along with off-spinner Shoaib Malik were again reported for illegal action in the first Test against England in Multan last month. The ICC imposed ban on Shabbir but cleared Shoaib.
Shabbir was called for the second time in 12 months.
The PCB has already decided to help Shabbir to protect his career and it is most likely the board will lodge the review appeal as in case of rejection, the bowler will not lose anything further.
