Wapda and Army march ahead

LAHORE, Dec 22: Pakistan Army marched ahead in the 2nd All Pakistan Mushaf Ali Mir basketball tournament making short work of Pak Rangers with an impressive 108-45 win at Rangers headquarters courts on Thursday.

Last year’s runners up Wapda maintained its winning ways outshining 4-Cav by 103-58. In the remaining two matches, Zamindar Club beat Don Bosco B, 56-39 while Don Bosco A outplayed Pak Youth 84-58. Rangers Club got a walk over against Franks Five in another.

Army’s owed to their chief scorer Niammat who scored 18 points followed by (8) from Adil and (6) by Ghafoor for their success.

Army led the first session and faced greater difficulty in maintaining their lead with just two points at 29-27.

It was, however, a different story in the second half and dominated the proceeding to emerge convincing victors.

Wapda finished the first half 49-35 against 4-Cav and were well served by Shahzad (34), Akhtar (18) and Pervaiz (10).

For 4-Cav Mutahir battled braveld to score (40) points but his splendid hard work was wastedby fellow colleagues who failed to rise to the occasion.

Zamindar club gained 26-23 points lead against Don Bosco B at interval.

Bilal (20), Farooq (17) and Shams (13) were the notable scorers from Zamindar while Muhammad Umair and Naveed with 12 points each and Waqas with 8 points were the leading point winners from Don Bosco.

Don Bosco led 43-23 over Pak Youth in the first half. Rashidd (24), Waqas Nazar (18) and Hammad (11) were the main scorers for Don Bosco. Pak Youths main scorers were Asad (21) Naveed and Umar with 18 points each.—APP
