S&T ministry okays research project

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Dec 22: The Ministry of Science and Technology has approved a project worth Rs195.867 million for research and fabrication of scientific devices using nanotechnology. “The government has recently constituted a National Commission for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (NCNST). The initiative reflects the interest being taken in research and development of nano-materials,” Federal Minister of Science and Technology Chaudhry Nauraiz Shakoor Khan said while elaborating on the significance of the project here on Thursday.

Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (PINSTECH) and Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) would execute the project within three years. The ministry and its attached organizations were spearheading government’s efforts to introduce and develop nanotechnology in Pakistan.

The minister said the project would aim at strengthening and supporting all existing nanotechnology projects being carried out in Pakistan.
