Pakistan to tour Sri Lanka

RAWALPINDI, Dec 19: Pakistan have agreed to play two Tests and five one-day games on their tour to Sri Lanka in April and May next year, officials said on Monday. “After the postponement of the Asia Cup, we requested Sri Lanka to include two Tests on our tour and they have agreed to the request,” Pakistan Cricket Board director of operations Salim Altaf said.

Pakistan had scrapped the Tests to shorten the Sri Lankan tour because it was scheduled to host the six-nation Asia Cup in February. But the event has been postponed at India’s request.

“Since the Asia Cup has been postponed, the team has ample break so we have now decided to play two Tests on the tour,” Salim said.

After the Sri Lanka tour, Pakistan will travel to England to play four Tests and five One-day Internationals between July and September. Pakistan is also scheduled to host Zimbabwe and the West Indies in their 2006-07 home season from October to December.—AFP
