Schools in Larkana reopen

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, Dec 19: Primary schools reopened in the Larkana district after remaining closed for 17 days due to stand-off between the leadership of two groups of primary schoolteachers.

Sabir Soomro, a spokesman for the Sindh Employees Alliance (SEA), told Dawn that central leaders of the SEA, Peeral Dayo, Manzoor Aheer and Anwar Joyo made both the groups reconciled after hearing their viewpoints.

Mr Soomro said that Ashique Memon, the administrative officer to the Larkana district nazim, and Liaquat Daidar, the former district president of the Primary Teachers Association, represented their sides.

It was decided that both the groups, who had registered cases against each other, would withdraw the cases immediately.
