KARACHI: Supreme Court dismisses state appeals


KARACHI, Dec 19: Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday dismissed state appeals against acquittal of six activists of the Muttahida Quami Movement in murder case of DSP Azizur Rehman’s two sons and others on withdrawal by the Sindh government.

Mohammad Waseem, Irshad Ahmed, Shabbir Ahmed, Attique Azam, Khurram Hafeez and Asif Jameel were acquitted by Sindh High Court from charges of killing four persons.

They were sentenced to death by trial court in 1999 for murdering Kashif Aziz and Rashid Aziz (sons of the then DSP Malir Azizur Rehman), their driver Rasheed and gunman Javed on July 11, 1997, in Al-Falah Society area.—PPI
