Chaleswan Chur obliges punters with fluent win
KARACHI, Dec 18: Living up to its billing, four-year-old bay colt, Chaleswan Chur obliged the punters when he returned with flying colours in the Winter Gymkhana race meeting at Karachi Racecourse on Sunday. Running in the third race alongside seven contestants in the six furlongs Sargodha Plate restricted for Pakistani horses in Class V Div I and II, he led from the front to win with comfortable ease by five lengths.
He was superbly ridden home by Muhammad Essa who ended the day with a fine treble. Earlier, he sprinted home two-year-old bay colt Zidane in the second and completed the feat by piloting home four-year-old chestnut Yes Neighbour Yes in the fifth race by a wide margin of nine lengths.
Jockey Abdul Aziz also had the taste of double after riding home four-year-old filly, Princess Rida and three-year-old colt, Leopard. The latter also made it two in a row.
Chaleswan Chur and Yes Neighbour Yes were owned by Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagaro. Both the horses were trained by Mumtaz Ali.
Chestnut I’M So Happy with riding boy Ghous Bux in the saddle, won the opener while Syed Ali Gohar Shah’s Silver City won the sixth race.
Thoroughbred Pakistani horse, King Of Mehran, pulled off an upset when he romped home in the concluding event.
Meanwhile, the Karachi Race Club has suspended the rider of Double Deal for six months besides imposing a fine of Rs30,000 for ‘unsatisfactory riding’ in the fourth race.
The Quaid-i-Azam Gold Cup meeting will be held on Dec 25.
