Govt ‘not serious’ about issue

Published December 19, 2005

LAHORE, Dec 18: The Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith says the Kalabagh dam issue has been revived to cover up the government’s failure to provide relief to the quake survivors. A joint meeting of the party’s central executive committee and district officials here on Sunday observed: “Had the government been serious about constructing the dam, it could have started work on the project six years ago.” The Jamiat president, Senator Sajid Mir, chaired the meeting.

It said though construction of big water reservoirs was the need of the hour, the way Sindh cabinet and MPAs from both treasury and opposition benches were protesting against the Kalabagh dam would plunge the country into commotion.
