Action against illegal FM stations likely

LANDI KOTAL, Dec 18: Political authorities in Khyber Agency are likely to take action against illegal FM radio stations which are spreading hatred in the agency. The situation in Bara tehsil of the Khyber Agency has been tense for a few days after two religious groups started abusing each other using their illegal FM stations.

The agency’s political agent Dr Fida Mohammad Wazir told mediapersons on Sunday that a religious group headed by an Afghan cleric had voluntarily handed over its FM radio station to the authorities.

“We expect other religious groups to do the same, otherwise the administration will take action,” Mr Wazir said.—Correspondent
