KARACHI: Encroachments removed in Gulshan, Orangi


KARACHI, Dec 18: Encroachments about 25-year-old have been removed from a football ground in Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town’s Block-2 Union Council-5 of on the directive of Town Nazim Muhammad Wasey Jaleel. A statement issued on Sunday said a team led by DDO (Land) Akhtar Meo and Sher Afgan Ali removed encroachments from a 30-ft road from a portion of a football ground.

The operations were carried out under the supervision of TMO Mattanat Ali Khan in which boundary walls, a servant quarters, rooms and shops were demolished. Besides, 20 encroachments were removed from Chandni Chowk while various other items were seized.

An anti-encroachment drive was also under way in various areas of Orangi Town following the directives of Orangi Town Nazim Abdul Haq, said another statement.

In this connection, TMO Qamar Shaikh directed the Land and Encroachments Department officials to remove encroachments from various markets and other areas of the town to accelerate work on various ongoing development projects in the town.

It also said that various encroachments including unauthorised walls, pushcarts and roadside stalls were removed under an anti-encroachment operation from Al-Fateh Colony, Sector-10.

Some 230 street dogs were also killed in a campaign against stray dogs in Farooq Colony, Hanifabad, Gulshan-i-Bahar and UC-10, Sector-12L, of the town.—APP
